ECological Footprint

Our goal: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, & Rethink at every step.

We are committed to:

  • Using 100% Recycled office paper.

  • Sourcing locally purchased office supplies and purchasing used, up-cycled, or refurbished equipment whenever possible.

  • Recycling all paper waste and ink cartridges, and using rechargeable batteries in the office. And, composting, even when the bucket gets a little stinky.

  • Tracking our energy usage. Our office is primarily lit by natural light and we set a goal to source from more renewable energy sources.

  • Stocking our office kitchen with reusable mugs, glasses, silverware and a water dispenser to reduce waste.

CONSCIOUS CLIENTS

Our goal: Work with clients who give us goosebumps because they are changing the world every day. So far, 100% success. Some highlights of the past year:

  • North Coast Brewing Company, in partnership with Fortunate Farm, composted over 3,268,343 tons of spent grain and hops, turning a waste stream into a regenerative carbon farming model. We love getting to tell this story as it develops over time. Watch the video we produced about the farm, and the brewery's other righteous endeavors.

  • Economic Development and Financing Corporation raised $351,000 for the Mendocino Wool & Fiber Mill in Ukiah, CA. In the first ever Direct Public Offering from a California non-profit organization, a diverse portfolio of community funds were used to finance a local Wool Mill to support local sheep farmers, provide an avenue for processing wool, and revitalize the local craft fiber industry. We were proud to design and implement the marketing & PR strategy to promote the DPO. Watch the video we produced about the wool mill.

OUR Community

Our goal: To support local causes that build the physical and social topsoil in our community.

Through our giving, volunteerism, and pro-bono work, we are primarily committed to supporting: ecological restoration; regenerative agriculture; community arts; local services targeting low income populations and women; and independent media.

In 2016 we donated 100 hours in service to the following organizations:

  • Economic Development and Financing Corporation which facilitates local economic development and provides gap financing for local entrepreneurs who are unable to access traditional sources of capital.

  • Good Farm Fund, a local nonprofit committed to providing direct support for local farms and scaling up sustainable agriculture and build a viable local food economy.

In 2016, Good Farm Fund gave out $20,000 in grants to 14 local farms to fund project-specific infrastructure development.

OUR Workplace

Our goals: Support our local economy by creating meaningful work that provides right livelihood. Nobody's perfect and we aim to cultivate healthy, transparent dialogue with everyone we work with, and create an environment for continual learning and growth.

  • We ask our clients and subcontractors how we're doing and how we can improve.
  • We hire local first. 81% of total spending in 2016 was with suppliers and vendors that are both local and independent. Our team is made up of locally and regionally based consultants and experts.

  • Dog-Friendly Workplace: Our pups (“Love” & “Light”) run our unofficial Human Resources Department and we always have dog treats in the cupboard.
